Grandma & Grandpa Wilde Visit

Grandma & Grandpa Wilde came into to town to visit from Colorado for several days. Ben and Aliza were so excited to see them, Lilly was excited when we talked about it, but not so excited when she actually saw them, she warmed up after a day or two! We were able to do lots of fun things with grandma & grandpa, they took the kids to see Ice Age the Meltdown in 3D, they took them to McDonalds, we went shopping, went to the Children's Museum in Dallas, went to a little water park, the boys went golfing, and out to dinner. They also had lots of fun playing at home with the kids. Aliza played barbies, princesses, and polly pockets with grandma, while Ben and grandpa played wizard 101.
We had so much fun that I forgot to take pictures most of the time. Most of these are from the Dallas Children's Museum. That was such a fun place. Lilly would not leave the pretend fire truck with the slide! Aliza really liked all the dinosaur exhibits and seeing the large dinosaur bones. Ben enjoyed digging for fossils and learning about the human body, one of his favorite exhibits was showing how we throw up - trust me it was gross!
Thanks for everything grandma & grandpa we had such a good time, we love you!

Our new Meetinghouse

Bonds Ranch Meetinghouse
Our new meetinghouse for church was recently finished and they held the dedication for the building a few weeks ago. I took Ben and Aliza with me to the dedication. I had never been to a building dedication before. It was a very quick service with the dedicatory prayer being offered by our Stake President, President Hadley. Don had told the kids before we left that there would probably be Angels there as he was trying to tell them about the sacredness of the dedication. Of course the kids kept asking me if there were angels there the whole time, but during the closing song, The Spirit of God, I felt the Spirit so strong in that building that I knew there were angels there with us singing and that the Lord was happy with this building. It is a very beautiful building and we are looking forward to meeting there. The ward we have been currently attending the Highland Station Ward will be split tommorrow. It is bittersweet, that is were we started after moving here to Texas, but the ward has grown so much that the stake has decided to split the ward and that is exciting because everything will be new again.

Festivities on the 4th of July!!!

So for the 5th consecutive year, the kids participated in the Haslet 4th of July parade. I actually tried to talk them out of riding their bikes and just watching the parade this year but they would have none of it! Aliza wanted to ride her bike and Ben volunteered to drive Lilly in the power wheels with him. The weather was little better this year, the was actually a breeze so it wasn't as stifling as usual! After the parade we headed over to the park for the Haslet party. The first year we were here they simply handed out ice cream sandwiches to the kids after the parade but it has grown each year, and in our opinion this was the best one yet. It spanned the whole park, there were tents set up for shade and ice cold water everywhere. Everything was free - hot dogs, ice cream, water, pizza, sno cones, bounce houses, games, and even balloons. It is just everything you picture a small town celebration to be, it had such a great atmosphere and was just so fun.
Later that night we had several friends over for BBQ, swimming, and fireworks. Everyone brought a ton of fireworks so we had a great show! The kids had a great time watching and even getting to help with some of the fireworks. It was so much fun it may have to become a 4th of July tradition!

Ben's first sleepover!

Back at the end of June we let Ben have a sleepover with his friend Nick. They had been trying to plan one for quite a while, so I finally said o.k. They had a great time swimming, playing football on the x-box, getting to stay up late and sleeping in the tent. They had the whole upstairs to themselves! Ben was so excited and had so much fun. He is of course already planning his next sleepover, as is Aliza!
