The Greatest Show on Earth

A few weeks ago the circus came to town, and we have had a tradition of going (since moving to Texas) every year. This year we decided that I would take the kids alone and Don would stay home with Lilly. The show didn't start until 7:30 and Lilly would be a mess if she was up that late. Anyway, the kids and I had a great time watching the performers. Bello the clown was hilarious and really made the show. While we were waiting in line for tickets some lady had some extra coupons so our tickets were only $7, not bad! None of my pictures of the performers turned out though because it was so dark in the convention center, but the pictures of the kids turned out very cute!
Now that was the happy story, now for the real story! Anyone who knows me knows I have horrible luck, anytime I go out to dinner I can almost guarantee that I will have the worst waiter/service imaginable, and that is only the beginning! So we get to the Convention Center at 6:15, I drive around Fort Worth looking for a place to park that didn't cost $20, I finally find a good parking garage and we start walking to the convention center. As we get there I find out the only ticket windows that are open are on the complete opposite side of the building, no problem, we continue walking over there and then we see the lines! The ticket lines go out into the street they are so long, and out of the 10 box office windows they only have 4 open. We get in line and proceed to wait and wait and wait. After being in line for 30 min, we are not only sweating to death in the heat, the sun beating down on us, and no breeze to speak of, Aliza tells me she has to go to the bathroom. Now she has been saying this for the last 10 min but now she is really starting to squirm. Of course she doesn't have to go potty either, and she had been having a little stomach bug so you can imagine she could not hold on much longer. We were only half way through the line at this point, so I turned to the girl behind me and explained the situation and asked her if she would hold our spot in line, of course she agreed and we went off to find the bathroom. I walk in to the convention center and one of the workers (a male) tells me the only bathrooms are in the inner circle and that he won't let me in without a ticket. Aliza is in tears as I try to explain to this man that she can't wait that long and that we have been in line for over 30 min. He doesn't care and won't let us in, I was so mad I told Aliza to just go on the floor so he could clean it up, of course she did not like that idea. I go back outside a little more then ticked off and let everyone outside know that the idiot at the door won't let this little girl use the bathroom! 30 min later we finally get our tickets and get in, Aliza is so excited now because the circus has already started that she doesn't have to go to the bathroom anymore. I had promised the kids a treat, so we go to buy some cotton candy it is $12. I give the guy my debit card, but oh no they only take cash at the circus! Luckily for me I had $13 in my wallet, because the line for the 1 ATM in the building was out the door! Anyway it was such a fiasco, this had never happened any other time we have gone. But that's my luck I guess. The kids had fun and that is what matters.

Muffin Tin Mondays

We have been having muffin tin Monday's pretty much all summer. The kids love it and now ask for it every Monday. This is the first time I remembered to take a picture of it! I actually found it on this cute blog if you want to check it out sycamorestirrings. She actually has different themes for each muffin tin Monday, I need a little more pre-planning to do that. But this is why I love this idea, it is great for a last minute lunch or dinner for the kids!

Funny Boy

So tonight we were eating dinner and there were carrots on the table. Ben started to complain about not wanting to eat carrots, he told me; "I don't like cooked carrots, I only like rotten carrots!" I thought that was pretty funny.
We also have bottled water with fluoride in it for the kids, but Ben can never remember the word fluoride and always says he is going to have some chloride in his water. Funny funny boy!

Breaking Dawn Release Party

So my good friend Summer her cousin and I spent the evening at Barnes and Noble for the midnight release of Breaking Dawn. It was pretty fun, even if we were the oldest people there! We probably weren't but it sure felt that way since most everyone else were teenagers. However we decided that since we were there we might as well participate and have fun! We began with our prom picture. As I have previously said I don't know why they had a prom theme, that was so 3 books ago! After our picture we made a corsage, a Bella charm bracelet, and a photo frame for our prom picture. They also had a living chess game and an area to design Bella's wedding dress. After doing all that is was only 9:45, so having some time to kill we went to Red Robin for some dessert - yum! Finally at midnight they started selling the book, we waited in line about 30 min before we had it in our hands, I of course called my sister and sister in laws in California to brag about having the book before them! I offered to read them random passages, but can you believe they did not want me too! Anyway it was a fun time!

Stephenie Meyer is making so much money off of this, can you belive this Godiva Chocolate! They even had special drinks that night in the cafe named after Edward and Jacob.

Our prom picture and frame

12:45 and we have the book, notice my corsage isn't it cute.

Boys day out

Don played hooky from work this week and spent the day with Ben at Six Flags over Texas. Ben had received a free ticket from a reading contest at school so off they went. It was very hot, the high that day was 105! But it did not detract from their fun! The park was not to busy that day Don said, so they rode pretty much every ride in the park (that Ben was tall enough for). Ben also got a chance to pose with a lot of the characters and they even saw the parade! Although Don said compared to the Disneyland parades, this one was a joke, Ben enjoyed it though and that is what really matters. That night Ben fell right to sleep, finally something wore him out! Just as a side note to the day, when Ben got home that night he could tell me exactly what his dad does at work, so you can imagine the kind of conversations going on that day! And yes Aliza is anxiously awaiting her special day alone with dad!

Good to go

Dad's Dinner

Don made dinner for the kids the other night, hotdog men. He wanted me to take a picture of it and post it on my blog, so here it is the hotdog man!

His eye got a little messed up, but you get the idea!

Girly Girl

It starts early doesn't it. This is how Lilly came walking out of the bedroom the other day. What a cute girl!

Pizza anyone

A couple Saturdays ago, we decided to stay home and have a family day with a pizza theme. We all made our own pizzas, Ben kept bragging about his "secret sauce", he was quite proud of his pizza. While they were cooking we played some games and made our delicious dessert - a COOKIE PIZZA!

Have you been Bitten?

So my lapse in blogging can only be blamed on one thing; Breaking Dawn. As most of you probably know Breaking Dawn is the fourth and final book in the Twilight series. And while no it did not take me a month to read the final book, I felt it was both necessary and appropriate to re read the first three books in preparation for the final book. Needless to say, it once again consumed my life. I got nothing done, no blogging, weeding, scrap booking, nothing. But I have now finished the book and can get back to my normal life!
