Aunt Kimberly's Birthday

My mom and sister Kimberly and brother Adam came to visit and were here over Kim's birthday, so of course we had to throw a party. Aliza was very excited about it and wanted to be involved in the planning. So she ok'd the purse cake grandma had in mind. Now the cake is not our best work, but we were dealing with circumstances out of our control - the rain and humidity. It rained everyday they were here, non stop so it was very moist and our fondant would not set up! The decorations were literally slipping right off the cake as soon as we put them on. So while it was not as pretty as we hoped, it still tasted fabulous! We had mexican food catered in that night (kim's favorite), played some guitar hero, sang, ate cake and of course had a pinata! We had a great time! We miss not being able to celebrate birthdays with our extended family so we were happy to have this chance!
While they were here Adam kept wanting to go swimming even though it was raining and the water was cold! He got Ben and Aliza in there with him one day. I wish I had gotten the carmera out for that, but the best was his goal to take a midnight swim, of course no one went with him for that!

Isn't is kind of freaky how she is staring at the camera like that!

Watch out 29 candles!

Adam busted open the pinata before the Birthday Girl even had a turn!

Lilly and the KitchenAid

Lilly is so funny, she loves sweets. She can hear the mixer turn on from any room in the house and comes running yelling cookies cookies and wants up on the counter to watch and more importantly wait for a bite of whatever is being made!

Desserts!

Every Sunday night we have started making some yummy desserts for FHE treats. These are the pictures of our eclairs - so yummy and made with fat free/low fat ingredients. and our marshmallow puffs - so easy! The kids have been loving being able to help. Last night was boring cookies, so no pictures. It is not easy to get good clear pictures of food! Just for the record I wasn't going to post about desserts but Don thought it would be fun to look back on these one day!

Halloween Craft

I saw this super cute Frankenstein craft on this great blog:http://www.theidearoom.blogspot.com/2009/08/frankenstein-glass-block.html. This girl is amazing, she always has so many great craft ideas I love it. This Frankenstein was so simple it took me less than 30 minutes start to finish. I am thinking about making another one using orange paper for a pumpkin face. How cute would this look on your front porch lit up on halloween night!

Lilly's turn for glasses!

Over the last few months I had started to notice that Lilly seemed to have a lazy eye. It always looked like her right eye was turning in. So I finally decided to take her to the eye doctor and sure enough lazy eye (right eye). Hopefully since we caught it early she will only have to be in glasses for a few years until the muscles in her eye get stronger. The good news is from what they can tell right now her vision looks good, just a weak muscle in her right eye. She does ok with the glasses, better then I thought she would for her age and she is getting better about leaving them on. Aliza was so excited when Lilly came home with her glasses. She told her they were the same now except that Lilly looked like a grandma because her glasses kept sliding down her nose! So for now to super cute girls in glasses - at least kids glasses are so much cuter now then when I was younger!
